What is this
A countersunk screw with a coarse tapered thread that comes to a point, of the kind that cuts its own way into soft material.
What you use it for
Fastening into printed parts, foam or soft wood without a nut on the other side. Useful when you want the fastener itself printed rather than sourced.
Design notes
The taper is what the threading routine does with a partially tapered end, so the point is real geometry and not a cone stuck on the tip. A printed screw will not hold like a steel one; keep the load light.
Parameters
diameter is the nominal size and length includes the head. Coarse threads print better at larger diameters, so start around 6 mm.

Parameter table
Parsed from the Customizer annotations in main.scad| Name | Default | Range | Unit | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| diameter | 6 | 3 to 16 step 1 | mm | Nominal metric diameter, so 8 is an M8. |
| length | 25 | 8 to 80 step 1 | mm | Total length including the head. |
| tolerance | 0.4 | 0 to 1 step 0.05 | mm | Taken off the thread to allow for printing. |
