What is this
A printable metric hex bolt: hex head, threaded shank, thread pitch taken from the metric standard for the diameter you pick.
What you use it for
Printed fasteners for jigs, fixtures and prints that have to come apart again, where a steel bolt would be overkill or would not fit. Pair it with the matching nut.
Design notes
The head is sized to the standard across flats for the diameter. The thread is generated as one polyhedron, which prints smoother and renders faster than a swept profile.
The tolerance is subtracted from the thread rather than added to the hole, so a bolt and nut printed at the same setting fit each other.
Parameters
diameter is the nominal metric size, so 8 gives an M8. length is measured under the head. Raise tolerance if your printer runs wide and the bolt binds.

Parameter table
Parsed from the Customizer annotations in main.scad| Name | Default | Range | Unit | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| diameter | 8 | 3 to 20 step 1 | mm | Nominal metric diameter, so 8 is an M8. |
| length | 20 | 6 to 80 step 1 | mm | Shank length under the head. |
| tolerance | 0.4 | 0 to 1 step 0.05 | mm | Taken off the thread to allow for printing. |
