What is this
An auger: a deep helical flight wrapped around a thin shaft, rather than the shallow thread of a screw.
What you use it for
Moving material rather than holding things together. Feed screws, extruders, drills, and mechanisms that have to carry something along as they turn.
Design notes
The gap between the outer and inner diameter is the flight depth, and that is the number that decides how much it moves per turn. Keep the inner diameter thick enough to take the twisting force, because a thin printed shaft will shear before the flight fails.
Parameters
outer_diameter is over the flight and inner_diameter is the shaft. pitch is the travel per full turn, so a larger pitch moves more material per revolution.
